Steve Uhles holds a BSF Degree in Forest Management from Arkansas A & M College. He has thirty-five years experience with several federal land management agencies. Steve worked fifteen years with the U.S. Forest Service in Wyoming, Colorado and California. He spent twenty years with the BLM in California, with detail assignments in Nevada, Alaska and Arizona. His assigned responsibilities included OHV recreation management, Wilderness and Primitive Area recreation management, timber sale planning and administration, and fire program management.
Steve retired from the BLM in November 2000 and started a consulting business specializing in OHV route inventory, monitoring, trail planning and training.
He has over 50 years experience riding off-highway motorcycles. He enjoys motorcycling, mountain biking, alpine skiing, and camping. Steve’s specialized experience includes the following:

Managed BLM/USFS Chappie-Shasta OHV Area in Redding, California for eighteen years. Responsible for OHV planning, California OHV grant funding applications, operation and maintenance, inventory, monitoring, special event permitting, trail planning and design.

Prepared and administered Interagency Agreements with BLM, USFS, Bureau of Reclamation, National Park Service, County and State Agencies.

Participated in numerous OHV Planning efforts with BLM and USFS in the western United States.

Served as member of OHV Master Performer Program with BLM and USFS.

Selected as Charter Member of USFS Recreation Solutions Enterprise Team.
Steve is currently a member of the training cadre for the National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council (NOHVCC) specializing in Trail System Planning and Route Designation Workshops. His recent projects include trail system planning and design for the Medicine Bow National Forest in Wyoming, the Corps of Engineers at Harlan County Lake in Nebraska, Tahuya State Forest in Washington and Carolina Adventure World Motorsports Park in South Carolina.
