Share the Dream Trail

ROC’s Management Team was planning to host a field review of the proposed trail with Forest Service staff from the Regional Office and Lassen National Forest on October 24 and 25.  The Forest Service cancelled this review for the second time.  It will not be rescheduled until late spring 2009.  The new date will be posted on this site.

On June 11-12, 2009, ROC meet with Lassen National Forest Supervisor Kathleen Morse, Public Services Officer Chris O’Brien, and Transportation Planner Tim Dedrick to review two sections of the Share the Dream Trail out in the field.  Four representatives from the State Off-highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division also participated in the field review on the first day.  Kathy Mick, Regional Trails Program Leader, Kathleen Morse and Chris O’Brien will be joining ROC and the Backcountry 4x4 Club on June 20 to drive another portion of the route.  Kathleen Morse will respond shortly with her recommendations on how to proceed with designating this OHV loop opportunity around Lassen Volcanic National Park.  Most of the route is on existing Lassen NF roads where mixed use will be needed.  A few new segments are proposed to bypass paved portions of State highways and one paved NFS road.  ROC will keep you posted of our progress and Kathleen’s response.
